summer '07

what a busy, busy summer it was.  may through the end of july was hectic with missions, but like every year, God never fails to bless us with the people and resources we need to serve him.  it's sad to know that i won't be able to be as involved for the next several years.  i've realized that the balance between motherhood and servanthood will continue to be a struggle for me. 

ben is no longer an infant.  he's all over the place, busy from morning to night.  his personality is evolving every day, and it makes me a little nervous to see him change so much, so fast.  stubbornness is written all over him, which he can attribute to both me and mike.  his favorite things to do, or attempt to do rather, throughout the day is open the refrigerator and take things out of it, open all kitchen cabinets and play with all the pots, pans, tupperware, mixing bowls, he loves to imitate me and clean the kitchen floor on all fours, he loves to dance - not to kids' songs but to dirty hip-hop, ben loves the routine of putting on his shoes and going outside, he loves bathtime, he loves playing the drums and piano, and of course, there's so much more, but i probably sound like such a mom writing all of this, so i'll stop...

we had these taken back in june so they're kinda' old but i thought i'd share them with y'all!  i'll update with pics from the summer in a couple weeks.

benjamin turns 1!

"take lots of pictures, 'cuz it goes by fast..."  last year on this day, i gave birth to the most precious thing i have ever had in my life.  and my life was changed.  and it's already been a year???  i'll be honest, i'm sure there were days this past year when it couldn't go any slower.  but it's hard to remember how hard it was (or is)...  i can't believe the last time i updated was in march?!  the past three months have been the most entertaining.  benjamin truly is a joy to have.  he's laughing, smiling, crying, whining, and pointing more than ever before.  he loves to eat.  he hates getting his diaper changed.  he has yet to walk out of his own volition, but he took his first 5 steps last week.  he does very boyish things like bang on the walls and floors, play with everything and anything electronic, rearrange furniture, and roam around everywhere.  but sometimes, he'll stop and plop down in my lap and rub his face on my shoulder.  and he likes to make fart noises on my tummy and laugh.  his favorite toy is his lamb pillow which he talks to and kisses and wrestles.  his dol is finally over (it's taken 2 full days to recover).  thanks to everyone who shared ben's special day with us.  we had over 250 people there and that's the last time we'll ever organize anything that big.  my mom spent 4 days cooking and i spent weeks making decorations.  anyway, we now officially have a toddler in the house.  i'm so excited to see what God has in store for ben this next year.  it really does go by so fast...  here's what i could find on my computer.
